“Fly Away” was a very intense and emotional experience for me. I woke up in the middle of the night on a school night at like 3 or 4 in the morning and I was filled with so much hurt and emotion from wanting to make a difference in the world that I came up with this song. My homie Do’zia hooked me up with this beat awhile ago, and I told him that I would make a really meaningful song out of it. The Intros were added after the song was completed. I wanted this song to bring people to tears or close to it, because of its beauty. I cried when I was writing the verses and the hook/bridge. I had such a beautiful vision of how the song sounded before it was even brought into reality, and it touched my soul. The intros were tributes to the fallen ones, and this song itself was supposed to inspire people to keep fighting to make it out of any negative situation and achieve their every dream and aspiration. I REALLY want to thank Elizabeth R. for providing her vocals and opinions to make this song such a great, emotional song. This song is probably my favorite song on the entire project.
