Nothing Compares” was a song that was kind of made out of the blue actually. I had been saying that I was going to sample “Someone Like You” by Adele for weeks. After my roommate played the song for about a week, and after we heard it on the radio in his car on the way to get something to eat, I decided it was a sign that I needed to go ahead and sample the song. Anyhow, the song was basically speaking on an old girl thinks that Philosophy will never find someone like her, and he is trying to prove her wrong. While he tries to prove her wrong, he accidentally begins reminiscing about the “Memories”—questioning their break up—and quickly realizes that he needs to distance himself from his ex and focus on future and his current.
